FAQs

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced crocheter, my patterns will likely introduce you to something new. While some crochet experience is helpful, it’s not necessary. I invent stitches and techniques that may feel challenging at first - just like when we all learned our first single crochet stitch. But don’t worry! New stitches can feel unfamiliar or slow at first, but with practice, they become second nature. Take your time, enjoy the process, and let your hands grow comfortable with each stitch.

Yes! I use charts myself and include them in my patterns. Additionally, you’ll find schematics and step-by-step photos to explain stitches, techniques, or key parts of the process. Whenever possible, I also provide extra instructions - such as variations for different shawl shapes - along with color diagrams for my colorful designs (plus blank templates to experiment with your own combinations) and other helpful tools for extra inspiration.

I’m often asked if it’s possible to switch to a lighter or heavier yarn for my designs. The answer is YES! You can definitely change the yarn weight, as long as you’re happy with the result.
If you’re working on one of my shawl patterns, there’s no need to worry - the stitch pattern stays the same; it simply scales up or down.
- Thinner yarn = smaller stitches, finer lines, lighter fabric.
- Thicker yarn = cozier, bolder, and more textured wrap. The shape remains the same, but drape and fabric thickness will vary.
For garments, where gauge is crucial, switching yarn weight requires some adjustments. If you're using a thinner or thicker yarn, you can:
- Recalculate the stitch count by comparing your gauge to the pattern’s gauge.
- Go up or down a size to compensate for differences in fabric density and fit.
- Adjust the hook size to get closer to the intended gauge, though this may affect the drape.
